Panic! At The Disco Set For Broadway Show?

Panic! At The Disco could be the latest act to take their sound to theatrical levels by putting on their own musical. The band admitted this week that they would like to follow in the footsteps of The Who and Green Day, creating a production using their own musical score.

In a recent radio interview, drummer Spencer Smith said:"That would be amazing. Put together a show that was a mix of our music as well as maybe tell a story...that would be like a dream."

He continued, joking to vocalist Brendon Urie:“It would be in like New Jersey. Like off-Broadway. Really far,"

The band have recently dusted off their own acting shoes on two occasions: performing in the video for recent single‘The Ballad of Mona Lisa’ and also for their dramatic album sampler promo, ‘The Overture’. Speaking about their own abilities, Smith said:"Every musician wants to act, but we have a way to do it where people know we're not trained actors, so we can be a little bit cheesy,"

Vocalist Brandon Urie also spoke about the band’s split last year, which saw members Ryan Ross and Jon Walker depart from the group, citing creative differences as the main cause. Speaking about their departure, Urie said:"Everybody wants their opinion heard and so you argue a lot more with four cooks in the kitchen. (Spencer and I) had been on the same page (regarding) where we saw the album going so in that sense there wasn't really any arguing and that kind of helped."

Spencer Smith added:"You're best friends and you live with these people so you can tell, you know, that there's like some tension there. After we kind of got off tour and it came time to record, we talked about it, and it just seemed like what (happened) needed to happen for our personal relationships, too. Now we're able to actually talk with those guys and not have the music stuff there to create tension."
