Jimi Hendrix Plectrum Mosiac Sells for£23,000

A mosaic of guitar legend Jimi Hendrix made out of guitar plectrums has sold for£23,000.

In an auction for charity, a mystery buyer outbid auction master and pub landlord Al Murray after the item started at almost half the price paid for it at £12,000.

The incredible mosaic was created by artist Ed Chapman, from Darwen in Lancashire, out of 5,000 guitar picks and was the main attraction of the Sound and Vision fundraiser. The event held its fifth annual auction last Friday, in aid of Cancer Research UK.

“I’m delighted that something I enjoyed creating has raised so much for such a worthwhile cause.” said artist Ed. “It’s more than we’d hoped for and although it’s nice for the person who’s bought it, it’s really, really good for a charity which works to stop a disease that sadly touches everyone.”

The auction, held at Abbey Road studios in London, managed to raise£340,000 for charity.
